House Search Update

We have been to Alphen aan den Rijn again today and had a chat with an estate agent there. The meeting went well and we think that we have chosen the right people to find us a house, so we are waiting for them to get in touch now!

Before deciding on an estate agent, we saw about 10 houses which we found ourselves, but we just can't move fast enough to make real progress, so hopefully we should see some results soon!

Another Wedding!

Great news! My cousin is also getting married!

There is a problem though, the date looks like it might collide with our own honeymoon, but we have to wait and see what gets arranged!

Her new hubby has joint British and Canadian status and they are moving to Canada after the wedding, so we can't wait to go and visit! Congratulations to Gaynor and Steve! (Couldn't have found a guy with a better name by the way...)

:D

Also, there is bad news, my grandmother had a heart attack the other day, but she is doing well now apparently. She is still in hospital, but both nan and grandad are going to spend next week with my parents.

2006 - Key Performance Indicators

Ok, so only Miki and her works friends will get the title, but here is what I want to get done this year (everyone else is writing one of these and it seems like a nice way to let people know what you are going to be doing this year):

1. Get Sun Certified for Java. I have the exam voucher (paid for by Collis, nice!). All I have to do now is pass it. Damn.

2. Get married. Things are progressing nicely on that front, but I have to now find a suit! We have been looking at some of the smaller details now, but we have to wait a while to arrange things like the food for example.

3. Get a house. We have an appointment in a couple of weeks with an estate agent to let them know what we are looking for.

4. Make a Java graphics demo. Making some progress here, I have Java working with OpenGL, but it runs at a snails pace. I have made a small particle system (always nice practice with LinkedLists and memory management, made wonderfully intuitive with Java!). The OpenGL bindings I am using are called JOGL, they are really nice because they are exactly the same as for C++ (unlike Java 3D, I tried it out, but looks like a lot of work and time is needed to get your head around it). Anyway, perhaps I can implement some threading and get the speed up :)

5. Try not to let work stress get the better of me!
