Holiday to Rhodes

We have come back now from our holiday to Rhodes in Greece and a good holiday it was too, although we did have some minor snags along the way!

We spent three days just relaxing round the pool which was nice. It was relatively quiet at the hotel, not many children either, but they had one of thos annoying entertainment teams who try to get you involved in aerobics and volleyball and stuff and they insisted on playing annoying music all day, but lounging in the sun and cooling off in the pool was bliss!

We also spent three days site seeing (we went for a week). We went into Rhodes old town which was wonderful, the old city was the base of the knights Templar. They have reconstructed the castle called The Palace of the Grand Masters and the whole town is surrounded by a citadel wall. There are hundreds of little streets to explore, with old buildings hidden in nooks and crannies and over hanging vines. We had some good meals out and went to the Sound and Light show which uses huge lights to illuminate the castle and tell the story of Rhodes.

We also went to the valley of the butterflies. It was the end of the season, but we still saw lots of butterflies. We both found it hard climbing, but Miki overcame her asthma and made it to the top were there was a monastery proclaiming to make the best doughnuts in Greece, with which I was very disappointed!

I will be posting pictures over the coming days to my Rhodes photoset on Flickr here

Miki will also be posting pictures to her Flickr page here
