Collis Day Out

On Saturday we had an organised work day out from Collis. Miki got to meet loads of my work colleagues finally!

We went to Wijk aan Zee, which is North West of Amsterdam. We started off with drinks and chatting, whilst everyone arrived. The day consisted of 3 beach activities in teams and was rounded off with a BBQ.

First of all we played some beach volley ball, which I was supremely crap at. Miki was quite good at serving, but she ended up with a bruised thumb!

After that we went on to create sand sculptures. Our team wanted to create something bigger than the tower that the previous team had made, so we decided to make a wedding cake. It was decorated in sea shells and we even carved a slice out of it, whilst one of my colleagues took a photo of Miki and I cutting the cake!

The third activity was rafting on the sea. It was very windy and the waves were quite huge! We had fun when actually in the boat and Miki was proud that she managed to stay in the boat and not fall out! We had drifted quite far and needed to get out and drag the boat through the shallow water back to the start which was exhausting! Miki had trouble getting into the boat the second time and ended up being half drowned so we sat out the second trip and went swimming in the shallows instead, which is what we had both really wanted to do in the first place...

We finished off with a nice BBQ at a cafe on the beach which was our centre of operations for the day. My boss then gave a speech, handed out Leonidas chocolates to everyone. We stayed and chatted for a long time and nearly everyone else had left by the time we went.

Miki got a bit burned and we both ache all over now, we are so unfit!
